The home offers a holistic model of care and education to children and young people aged 1118years, with Social, Emotional, MentalHealth difficulties. Burgwood House seeks to maintain stable placements so that the residents build relationships, enhance their feelings of self-worth and develop a desire to learn.The home is located near Horsham and is commutable from Slinfold, Barns Green, Crawley, Leatherhead, Guildford, Worthing and other surrounding towns and villages.The opportunityThis is a role with an exciting career and development plan, structured to ensure our staff are trained, supported, and continually developed. It is an incredible opportunity to further your career and see it flourish.The RoleAcorn Education and Care work directly with vulnerable children with Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) and complex needs. You will be patient and compassionate and, most of all, dependableworking hard to forge a much-needed relationship of trust withthose in your care.This will involve learning about the young persons interests as well as their dislikes and their triggers, using that connection as a launchpad for a rewarding relationship. A passion for this kind of relationship-building is essential.You will be responsible for the wellbeing of the children or young people in your care. This will include chaperoning the children to appointments and activities, completing relevant paperwork, undertaking household tasks, and where appropriate administeringmedication. You will also lead, train and develop new and existing care workers within your team, helping the deputy manager to maintain a skilled and knowledgeable team in order to deliver the best care for our Children and Young People.Working as part of an incredible committed team, you will co-operate and share knowledge and learning to the benefit of great care. Excellent communication skills are essential, both in terms of teamwork andmost importantlyas you will be in close contactwith the children you care for.Kindness is key. In this role, a warm smile can make a massive difference.Who are we are looking forTo become a Senior Care Worker with us, you will need to have achieved yourLevel 3/4 Diploma in Working with Children and Young People, or equivalent. You should also have at least 1 years hands on experience in a similar residential environment.We know that the children and young people in our care can be challenging, and we are looking for Care Workers who are up for that challenge. You will be patient and resilient, and able to recognise the reward in transforming a young persons life.
