Job Description

Applications are invited from qualified, HCPC-registered Applied Clinical/Counselling Psychologists for 0.8 permanent Band 8a post (30 hours per week). An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the (NWS) Adult Community Mental Health Services. The 8a practitioner psychologist position is located in the Horsham Assessment and Treatment Team. This multi-disciplinary team provides secondary mental health care to the surrounding community. It is one of three teams locally, relating to one main psychiatric hospital - Langley Green Hospital. The successful candidate will join a friendly, highly-skilled and enthusiastic community of psychologists and psychological therapists in North West Sussex. Our psychological therapists offer specialist assessments and interventions, psychological formulation and team consultation. The successful candidate will have skills and interests in supporting colleagues to develop and use psychological thinking in their work and in contributing psychological perspectives to service users’ care plans. They will also have experience of supervising other psychologists or psychological therapists, either qualified or in training. We are also currently developing streams of work in NWS grouped into 3 main Pathways; Personality Disorders, Mood and Anxiety, and Psychosis which staff work across but align themselves within one. We work closely with families, carers, peer support workers and experts by experience; increasing our psychological offer to those in the community with psychosis, including an increase in the delivery of Family Interventions for psychosis; and creating a wide range of PTSD and complex PTSD interventions, including establishing Trauma informed care throughout our local service network. We also encourage each psychologist to lead on a group in the group programme, as we currently run these across our main diagnostic groups. We would particularly welcome applicants with CBT, EMDR and/or CAT therapy accreditation and specialist interest in interventions for psychosis including family therapy and CBT.Staff wellbeing is of central importance in the trust as a whole and in the North West Sussex Service. Our most recent psychological therapies away day focussed on this, as did our last NWS leadership away day. There is an emphasis encouraging and supporting our staff to develop, whilst working in psychologically safe environments, and being able to access a range of interventions and services to support a busy working environment.
