Job Description

Compliance Officer - legalHorsham4 month contract covering maternity£75,000 - £90,000 full timeA compliance officer on a 4 month contract is required for an exciting role with Hunters client, a vibrant law firm with a focus on technology and customer service. The compliance officer oversees compliance for the firm and becomes the Money LaunderingReporting officer.Compliance Officer Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining knowledge of the firms relevant processes, policies and procedures and industry standards
  • Providing training on firms relevant policies and procedures
  • Carrying out ad-hoc tasks and projects which may arise within the team to implement and develop risk led initiatives
  • Maintaining and updating the firms conflict database
  • Performing conflict research, searches and managing conflict resolution processes
  • Undertaking ongoing AML/Sanctions and monitoring of high-risk clients
  • Performing due diligence checks of new and existing clients
  • Responsible for ensuring that new clients, new matters and third-party payors comply with the requirements of applicable AML legislation and the Firms AML policies
  • Perform client due diligence including Politically Exposed Person (PEP), adverse press and sanctions searches
  • Perform follow ups on outstanding AML files, ongoing monitoring on completed AML files, and periodic review of personal identification documentation obtained
Compliance Officer Requirements:
  • Experience of identifying and dealing with issues relating to AML, sanctions, high risk matters and complex ownership structures
  • Ability to explain Compliance procedures and systems
  • A confident leader with a technology-led approach to work and life
  • The ability to lead by example
  • A positive, can-do attitude to work in an environment that can be pressurised at times
  • Professional, friendly and approachable at all times to your colleagues
  • The confidence and modesty to seek guidance and support in all circumstances of any uncertainty
  • Familiarity with UK, European and/or global AML rules and regulations
  • Strong research and analytical skills via internet, databases, and other sources, including the ability to synthesize large amounts of client due diligence data and present it in a clear, logical and succinct fashion
