Job Description

January Start - Special Needs Teaching Assistantrequired for a Hornchurch school to support a KS1 Non Verbal and ASD student on a 1-1 basis in the classroom and sometimes outside of the classroom at a workstation. The student is new to the school and will need support with their Social and Emotional needs.Monday - Friday 8.15am - 3.30pm (Term time only)Hourly pay with additional holiday payExperience & Qualification

  • Experience and knowledge of working with children that have ASD
  • Have an understanding of working with Non Verbal children and strategies to develop this area of SEND.
  • Have experience or knowledge in PECS or Makaton
  • An interest, motivation and passion for working with Special Needs children and developing skills to facilitate this
  • Building intellectual, social, emotional, and physical skills of the student whilst promoting enjoyment of learning.
  • Calm, controlled and effective communication and relate well to all children and adults within the school
  • Ability to work constructively as part of a team, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities and your own position within this
  • A high level of professionalism and the ability to distinguish personal and professional boundaries in school related relationships both in and outside of the school
  • Experience in working outside of the classroom at a workstation
  • Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or Care qualification.
