Job Title: Personal Health Care AssistantLocation: Horley Hourly rate: £10.00- £12.00 Reference: LR6774 Hours/shifts:Up to 8 hours per week one day a week ideally on a Wednesday but day and time by mutual agreementSummary• I am a disabled young male with complex health needs and live with my parents in Horley.• My mother is my main carer and will be your employer• I like to be chatted to and being indoors in a safe and protected environment. • I am looking for an experienced and patient PA to carry out personal care and clinical tasks supporting my mother as my main carer. • This is a rewarding role with all professional training provided.Other Requirements• Non Smoker• Other : All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service checkSuccessful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.DescriptionTypical dutiesPersonal Care:Full continence care (including changing pads)Use of hoist - transfer from bed and wheelchairFollowing correct procedure for moving and handlingPositioning properly in wheelchair and bed - postural management to avoid pain and bruisingSkin integrity - putting cream on and watching for chaffing/bruising from equipmentDressing and undressing/ helping with buttons and fasteningsUse of suction machine to clear airwaysGiving feed and fluids via a PEG, using a Feeding PumpHelp with pain management with repositioning and/or pain relief medicationAdministering MedicationOral HygieneGeneral hair/skin careApplying creams as requiredHoisting into and out of water genie Regular passive movements and stretchesTo watch closely for signs of need so my son is comfortable, safe and secure- supervisionPossibly in the future washing and bathing/showering (water genie) - towelling dry/ drying hair Helping with other aspects of personal care as requiredPerson specificationThe successful applicant will be: Non smokerCommitted to providing a good standard of careWilling to adjust to changes in need throughout the day and respond to themRespectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentialityReliable with good time-keepingAble to both follow instructions and work on own initiativeHygienic, tidy minded and well organisedFit and healthy to undertake the required dutiesPatience and possess excellent interpersonal skillsHonest and cheerfulCreativeAble to speak and read English to a reasonable standardLegally permitted to work in the United KingdomAble to work at all times to high standards of Health & SafetyPrevious experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.Please note, if you are successful in your application for this role you will be employed through the individual employer and not Independent Lives.
