From our mobile thickeners that reduce our customers carbon footprint, to our leading installation, maintenance and optimisation services, we strive to help the water companies achieve their stringentenvironmental and financial objectives.An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Workshop Manager at Brettex, based in Chesterfield, Derbyshire.The Workshop Manager will oversee a self-sufficient 20,000 sqft workshop with servicing, machining and fabrication facilities. The workshop supports Brettexs client base with centrifuge and other equipment services alongside design and manufacturing toreduce lead times and minimise costs. The position will play the leading part in growing the range and scope of workshop services in-line with Brettexs 5-Year Ambition Plan, at all times ensuring that work is conducted safely, to the correct quality standardsand with lead times that match client expectations.Improving communities, protecting the environment and creating an inclusive culture is right at the heart of our business.   • Effectively manage workflow to provide optimal service delivery efficiency and lead the technical development of the workshop and products manufactured.
  • Developing and implementing the workshop Standard Operating Procedures to ensure world-class quality and safety performance.
  • Liaising with customers and supporting Contract / Project Managers with quotations, estimates, pricing and technical input for tenders.
  • Ensuring that as the volume and scope of work grows, engineers in the workshop have the skills, knowledge and experience to fulfil business requirements.
  • Supporting field engineers with technical knowledge on field-based service work, installations and process troubleshooting
  • Ambition to grow the business and expand on manufacturing services offered to the wider group and externally.
  • Maximising resource productivity and efficiency to meet our clients service delivery outcomes.
What are we looking for
  • This role will suit an ambitious workshop manager with an experienced mechanical engineering background, with the desire to continue developing the Brettex workshop and product range whilst utilising the skills and knowledge of the existing team.
  • Excellent IT skills, proficient at utilising business management systems including databases and spreadsheets
  • Previous experience of developing an engineering workshop and/or decanting centrifuges would be an advantage, although not absolutely necessary.
  • Expert knowledge of Mechanical engineering, this could be via work experience or qualifications
  • Experience of continuous improvement techniques as applied to engineering.
  • A proven track record of understanding and working within a fast-paced, customer service environment.
