You will join us as an R&D Chemist to develop and improve the PIR and PF foam formulations through desktop-based research and lab development. You will develop an understanding of the foam formulations and understand how properties are influenced so that lab and research work can be transferred to the production lines to improve the overall final product.Chemist Responsibilities:- Develop and improve current procedures in the lab to analyse foam and foam components, and accurately drawing conclusions and report findings.- Research relevant papers online and through suppliers, and generate reports on findings, with suggestions for further research work.- Develop an understanding of the foam formulations, and a basic understanding of the production foaming process, so that research work can be transferred to the production line aiming to improve existing product performance.- Develop a strong understanding of foam parameters, and measures used to influence these.- Carry out non-standard finished product testing as part of R&D and / or new raw material approval.- Work alongside raw material suppliers developing and improving material performance. Undertake visits to suppliers or other offsite labs for material approval and accreditation.- Keeping up to date with relevant scientific and technical developments within the insulation foam industry.- Participating in any training as required by the company.Chemist Requirements:- Chemistry qualification, preferably up to degree level.- Have good initiative, while using a scientific approach to problem solving.- Capable of operating in a fast-changing organisation.- Strong organizational and time management skills.- Strong PC, software and report writing skills.
