Job Description

Handyman

  • Location: Camden
  • Temporary position for an initial 2 months
  • Must have an advanced DBS
You will be working within theHome Improvement service, they will be working in Camden carrying out small repairs and home security.Overall Responsibility:
  • To carry out small handyperson type jobs in clients’ homes.
  • Provide high quality customer service to elderly and disabled people.
  • You must be able to work on your own initiative, organise appointments, complete paperwork and be able to drive to and from jobs.
  • Within the role you will also be required to estimate works, record mileage and other costs.
  • You are required to have a good standard of written, verbal and numeric skills and as well as basic PC skills.
  • To be considered for this role you will need to have your own basic tools and a valid driving license, a van will be provided with additional tools.
Key Responsibility
  • Carry out day-to-day repairs, improvements and adaptations without supervision with particular emphasis on plumbing, carpentry, security and other relevant works.
  • Demonstrate a common sense approach to problems and basic repairs, ability to deliver innovative solutions
  • Work on own initiative, manage own time and be able to drive to and from jobs.
  • Organise own workload as required as well as keeping office diary up to date.
  • Estimate works and complete job tickets, reports and banking sheets.
  • Record mileage, parking costs, time spent, and materials used, hours worked and produce completed forms.
  • Keep a record of any materials purchased and used or taken from stock.
  • Comply with office and any other procedures for the Handyperson in day-to-day work.
  • Assist in the preparation of statistics and reports for staff and Committee purposes to enable the quality of the service and standards to be monitored effectively
Knowledge/Qualifications
  • Good general education
  • Good knowledge of different trades
  • Good numeracy and Literacy
Experience
  • Extensive experience of Handyperson / repairs work
  • Understanding of the needs of older, disabled and vulnerable people
  • Experience of working in clients homes
  • Ability to manage a caseload
  • Ability to comply with financial recording
  • Ability to comply with service monitoring
