Job Description

Role: Senior Project GeophysicistMain Purpose of the Job:Responsible for technical support to the Operations Team in the running of Operational projects using appropriate software to process, analyse & control the quality of raw data for reporting. The primary role includes utilising interpretative skills to reportand manage all geophysical data for operational projects.Key Responsibilities: Include maintenance and management of Intrusive, Non-Intrusive, and Target Investigation deliverables as well as all project reporting to ensure consistency, quality improvement, and efficiency in the department and client products.Main Tasks of the Job: Operations

• Manage land and marine data collection, data processing and data interpretation of datasets collected during survey operations through use of various survey techniques.
• Carry out the processing and interpretation of magnetic data.
• Creating high-quality data reports for internal and external issues.
• Processing field data logs compiled by Unexploded Ordnance field operative teams. Production Log Management including updating production logs, reports, drawings, and project worksheets on a daily basis to ensure accurate recording of live and on-goingprojects.
• Coordinate project deliverables between operations management and field staff to ensure smooth project reporting and delivery
• Oversee ordnance found management including reporting and logging of all items identified and reported to head office
• Provide technical assistance during the both live project and reporting phase of works, including acting as client liaison when required to provide or request information
• Maintain quality of all incoming data is carried out within the department and ensure all quality standards are met, in accordance with company policy and procedure
• Continually look to improve& develop existing project data management processes
• Assess & Identify incoming data issues and demonstrate workflow solutions
• Troubleshooting errors and problems with methodologies, hardware and/or software, in cooperation with any external resources, as required
• Report writing for all field operational projects, including understanding and communicating highly technical and commercial information
• Lead service delivery during mobilisation, survey operations, demobilisation and reporting including preparing all project documentation and required and daily progress reports
• Carryout field based surveys when required and agreed. This will include travel across the UK (& may include International onshore and offshore project opportunities) and assisting with and/or overseeing the mobilisation of assets and equipment to siteand ensuring the set up and set to work processes are in line with the project plan.
• Carry out all reasonable works as required; this may include assisting the operations department on work sites.
• Provide on-the-job training of interpretation and technical software to in house staff

Management Support

• Provide technical input during tender or quotation stages of a project, identifying appropriate survey methods & equipment, developing work plans and producing drawings and plans.
• Prepare preliminary survey plans in order to estimate task durations, including preparing equipment and subcontractor identification
• Managing operational survey sub-contractors and suppliers
• Assist the hiring Manager in selecting appropriately qualified and experienced sub-contracted
• Identify new commercially available technologies to improve survey techniques and processes
• Ensure that all survey deliverables are issued to project deadlines.
• Represent 1LD at all survey planning meetings and presenting technical data, reports and summaries to Clients where required

Knowledge:

• A detailed understanding of the various land and marine geophysical survey systems.
• A detailed understanding in the use of marine and land based positioning systems
• A detailed understanding of marine & land survey operations.
• Experience as a Geophysicist Project Manager

Skills:

• Ability to quickly gain user skills on industry specific software
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Ability to configure survey systems and integrate software.
• Ability to manage and motivate project teams in both the office and marine environment.
• Be highly flexible. Tasks and responsibilities will change rapidly and Team Members will be required to follow suit.
• Field deployments may be required (UK and internationally based). Deployment timings will be negotiated with the Line Manager.
• Thorough knowledge of MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint)
• Work with a high level of accuracy and be able to review others work.
• Able to identify and set priorities of work.
• Use own initiative and judgement in accordance with the overall objectives of the Company and the Project Team.

Experience:

• Management of field based (land & marine) geophysical survey activities (including the mobilisation, maintenance, testing, data collection, demobilisation, processing & interpretation).

Qualifications:

• Educated to degree level in geophysics or similar subject.
