Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:We have an opportunity for a Senior Housekeeping Supervisor to work for our well-established and professional client based in Hoddesdon. This is a full-time Permanent position offering an hourly rate of £12.50.As part of the housekeeping team, you will play an essential role in ensuring the accommodation and site looks presentable, so guests feel a genuine welcome and an optimistic attitude from all team members.You will support the team to create great memories for all guests. The servant-hearted culture you set in the team will make each guest feel special and you will have the ability to encourage the team to do the same.As the housekeeping assistant, you will assist the entire housekeeping department, taking responsibility to ensure the very highest level of service are consistently delivered. You will have responsibility for presenting the rooms and site to a great standardwhich will contribute to guests having a great experience at the conference centre.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Encourage efficient and effective inter-departmental communication in order to promote a climate of teamwork and motivation.
  • Communicate a clear and consistent message regarding departmental goals.
  • To continually coach, train and develop your teams to ensure the Centre can achieve its goals through regular appraisals and development plans, including overseeing probationary periods of new employees.
  • Liaise and communicate with the Rooms Division Manager and/or Duty Manager on a daily basis.
  • Plan, prioritise, assign, supervise, review, and participate in the work of the Housekeeping team.
  • Plan and roster staff with the rooms division manager according to forthcoming conferences, holidays, extra staff requirements and other business requirements.
  • Allocate work to staff daily.
  • Ensure all staff carry out their daily tasks to the required standards.
  • Assess the need for special cleaning tasks and plan accordingly.
  • Administer laundry rental including receipt, despatch, and stocktaking.
  • Monitor stock levels and place orders when required.
  • Ensure the cleaning of in-house laundry, towels, bedding, and curtains.
  • When bedrooms/meeting rooms are not in use ensure that heating is turned off or down to low levels.
  • Assist the rooms division manager with recruiting new employees.
  • Oversee the induction process for each new employee ensuring they receive the correct training.
  • Develop staff as necessary through on the job training and workshops via management
  • Ensure that staff work safely protecting guests, colleagues, and themselves.
  • Ensure efficient and proper use of materials and equipment with reference to Health & Safety, and COSHH legislation.
  • Report any faults/defects to the maintenance department and liaise with maintenance supervisor on safety checks on electrical equipment.
PERSON SPECIFICATIONExperience and knowledge:
  • At least 1-2 years in hospitality housekeeping or similar.
Skills, personal attributes and behaviours:
  • Confident, self-motivated and able to work on own initiative.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organised with good planning, prioritising and time management skills. Ability to accurately prioritise work to minimise disruption to the centre.
  • Demonstrates a positive customer focused approach to guests’ needs and resolves problems quickly.
  • Proactive in identifying and resolving problems with the ability to determine when to escalate problems to the Maintenance Manager and when to take ownership and resolve them personally.
  • A good team player.
