Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced dietitian to join the Children’s Integrated Community Service.We are looking for a self-motivated, friendly and enthusiastic dietitian who should have dietetic experience of working in a healthcare setting.The paediatric dietetic team is based at Callaghan House in Heywood, working across Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale in a variety of settings to deliver services to children and young people from 0 – 19 years, and their families, with a wide range of difficulties and disabilities.The team enables children with a wide range of difficulties and disabilities to maximise their nutritional status and overall growth and development in the community. Service delivery takes place in a variety of settings, including children and young people’s homes, nurseries, schools and health centres. This can be on a one to one basis, as part of a multidisciplinary team, and/or delivering group sessions.Job SummaryThe post holder will:

  • Provide evidence-based dietetic care (allergies, home enteral feeding, fussy/sensory eaters, nutritional deficiencies) according to the individual needs of each patient.
  • Provide continued support to the rest of the team.
  • Record patient information accurately and in line with policies.
  • Main Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Ensure nutritional treatment plans are prescribed, and mindfully implemented.
  • Complete dietetic records following the departmental and trust guidelines for documentation.
  • Input food diaries onto the computer (currently Nutritics) and analyse to improve nutritional intake of patient.
  • Liaise and guide dietetic assistant when arranging enteral tube feeding equipment/feeds.
  • Attend all meetings in the interest of ‘effective team working’ and sharing responsibilities equally where appropriate.
  • Liaise with other professionals in the interest of patient care, sharing relevant information when needed (including safeguarding concerns).
  • Identify personal training needs through participation in regular continuous professional development activities and individual performance review.
