We are currently recruiting for an experienced qualified Mechanic for Local Government based in HeywoodDuties to include: Being responsible for the maintenance and repair of a diverse fleet of vehicles and plant, maintaining a varied group of vehicles from small plant, tractors, cars, road sweepers, minibuses and coaches up to 26 Tonne refuse collection vehicles.Carry out the MOT and compliance testing of the private hire vehicles and taxis operated within the borough.You will need to have the following:Class 4 and 7 MOT tester certificateFull cat B driving licenceCity and Guilds or equivalent mechanical engineering qualification (minimum level 2)The ability to inspect and repair vehicles, plant and equipment to DVSA standardsCarry out effective diagnosis and repair of complex electrical systemsHave an understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic vehicle systemsGood communication skillsBasic computer skillsThis position is initially a three month contract but this could be extended and is available immediately.The rate of pay is £13.18 per hour.
