Job Description

The companyJo Bennett Specialist Recruitment are pleased to be working in partnership with Archbold Logisitics in recruiting an experienced Financial Contoller to join their busy finance team. Archbold are a successful, well established logisitics business who celebratedtheir 100th birthday a few years ago. Based in Heywood they are a significant player within the transport/logistics & warehouse sector. With their HQ based in Heywood, they also operate from several sites across the UK.The roleThey are looking to recruit a Financial Controller (No 1 on site) to join their senior management team in continuing to drive the business forward. Working closely and reporting to the MD, you will have responsibility for the finance function of this c£20m T/O business and will lead a small, successful team.Key responsibilitiesReporting and Forecasting

  • Prepare and manage the delivery of timely and accurate management information (MI) on a weekly/monthly basis and to meet board requirements.
  • Prepare and manage the annual budget and quarterly forecasts.
  • Support the Accountants and Group Financial Director with the preparation and management of the annual statutory accounts process.
  • Prepare weekly flash results and KPI reporting.
  • Prepare any other project or ad hoc financial reporting requested by the Board.
  • Manage cash flow, debtors and be the interface with our Bankers/Financial Institutions on a consistent basis.
Controls and Processes
  • Develop a suite of KPI reporting which is insightful and meaningful
  • Ensure measures and business controls are in place for cash management purposes and to clearly show financial performance of the business.
  • Apply a continuous improvement approach to controls and systems, ensuring that financial systems are robust, effective, and appropriate for growth and change in the business.
Management
  • Lead, motivate, and develop the finance team
  • Have strong stakeholder experience, developing productive relationships across the business to promote financial awareness.
Taxation
  • Responsibility for all direct (eg corporation tax, deferred tax, income tax) and indirect (VAT) taxation matters across the business.
  • Production of corporation tax computations
  • Preparation and online submission of quarterly VAT returns, and ongoing contact with HMRC on all company taxation matters.
Payroll
  • Ensure the weekly and monthly payroll is completed and appropriate reporting is in place (Sage Payroll)
  • Completion of HMRC submissions.
Projects/Ad Hoc
  • Prepare new business case reporting
  • Liaise with external Auditors and other thirty party legal and professional advisors as required.
The PersonYou will be an ambitious qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) and have a number of years post qualified experience. You will have a sound technical knowledge complimented by a real commercial flare. You will be forward thinking and be instrumental ingrowing this business alongside the MD. This position will offer you a real opportunity to develop and take on more responsibility in the future. You will have the confidence to challenge and introduce new ideas. You must be an effective communicator and beable to build strong working relationships.
