Job Description

The HICA Group are a not for profit’ organisation, established as one of the largest providers of care in the area, and the Finance team have a new opening for a Payroll Manager!This exciting opportunity may suit a payroll supervisor looking for their next move into management or a payroll manager looking for a change and a more hybrid working model. This opportunity offers flexibility and a friendly working environment, withinthe beautiful setting of Hesslewood Park, close to the Humber Bridge.Pay & Hours:

  • Salary - £40k (negotiable depending on experience)
  • Hours - 37 hours flexible working
  • Based either at Hesslewood Office Park (HU13) or enjoying hybrid working, you will enjoy great flexibility with your hours to suit you and the peak times of our payroll cycles.
The Role:Reporting to the Group FC, you will oversee monthly & 4 weekly payroll activities, whilst ensuring all aspects of payroll processes are met, whilst striving to maintain the highest standards of controls. You will be expected to maintain the payroll systemand to adapt it so it can be used to its full potential.Key responsibilities will include:
  • Leading and developing the payroll team to recognise their priorities, reduce slippage against the scheduled plan and upskilling team members to be multi-skilled across all areas of payroll.
  • Responsible for identifying any risks to the timely and accurate delivery of all payrolls and associated payroll services, taking appropriate action to correct.
  • Overseeing the preparation of monthly and 4-weekly payrolls; leading the process of uploading data into the payroll system, assessing overtime, statutory and contractual adjustments
  • Working closely with your customer base in respect of validating data, checking their payroll processes and training new managers. Pro-actively address recurring issues with managers than impact on an efficient payroll process.
  • Overseeing Gross to Net calculations, validate statutory payments, 3rd party deductions, auto-enrolment, annual leave and NI/tax deductions.
  • Managing overpayment procedures
  • Preparation of payroll reports including pension reports using Excel and payroll system.
  • Work collaboratively with the Financial Controller and Projects Manager to develop HICA’s payroll services and achieve processing efficiencies.

About you:The ideal candidate will possess an eye for detail in a function where accuracy is essential, be computer literate in Excel and Word along with suitable experience of payroll software.
  • Previous experience working as a Payroll Senior / Team Leader and managing a team is essential.
  • Experience of manual calculations, even if this historical rather than your recent role(s)
  • A strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Exceptional organisational and prioritising skills
  • Strong Excel skills with knowledge of using V Look Ups & Pivot Tables
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
