Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Support Worker / Care worker / Healthcare worker to join our team.Job Title: Support Worker / Care worker / Healthcare workerLocation: The Lodge, YO8 6RASalary: £10 - £10.50 per Hour + Benefits

  • Overtimeoutside contractual hours (40hrs) £10.50 per hour
  • Sleep shift £50 per shift
Due to location candidates will need to be able to drive to workAbout Us:Our company provides high quality accommodation and personal care for individuals who have a learning disability with additional complex needs including autism, ASD, challenging behaviour, epilepsy, communication difficulties and mental health support.Our residential care services are currently provided within the North-east and North and west Yorkshire regions. Our service users live in spacious modern houses accommodating between 6 and 8 individuals with 24 hour support.We are currently recruiting for full and/or part time day vacancies. You will work as part of a dynamic and diverse team of individuals to meet peoples needs in a person-centred way, supporting a group of eight adults with a Learning Disability, complexneeds, challenging behaviours and/or Autism. Each of our services supports 6-8 adults in a residential setting.The role involves always treating people with dignity and respect and supporting people:

The role also involves:
  • regularly updating and keeping records to a high standard
  • completing a comprehensive training programme
  • undertaking domestic and infection control tasks
  • working within a framework of policies and procedures
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • To provide a professional and residential care service to all Service Users and to promote the development of the individuals full potential.
  • To ensure that high standards of professional care and practices for service users are established and maintained, including appropriate attention to their physical, cultural, social, educational, recreational and emotional needs.
  • To participate in the decision making process concerning future plans for each service user within their home environment.
  • To prepare reports and to participate in case reviews on each service user.
  • To ensure that service users medication is administered as prescribed by the General Practitioner for Action for Care Limited.
  • To undertake Keyworker responsibilities.
  • To promote and contribute towards effective communication within the residential staff team and between service user and staff, to ensure that continuity of care is maintained.
  • To contribute towards the maintenance of sound administrative practices within the home; to establish and maintain a detailed case recording system for each resident.
  • To undertake sleeping-in duties.
  • To participate in and contribute to staff training and development programmes as and when required.
  • To assist as necessary in the overall running of the home and to provide assistance where necessary.
  • To deploy volunteers effectively and supervise students and trainees as appropriate
  • To assist in fostering, developing and maintaining contacts within the local community.
  • To carry out any other duties as required.

Desirable:
  • Relevant Qualifications, eg. NVQ
  • Knowledge of Learning Disabilities
  • Experience of working with people who have learning difficulties and Challenging Behaviour
  • Knowledge of Residential Care
  • Knowledge of Person Centred Planning
  • Knowledge of medication
  • A hobby or interest to share with others
  • Full current Driving Licence
COVID-19 considerations:We provide full PPE for work to always to ensure safety of all staff and the individuals we supportTraining and Induction:All training is provided, and induction will be provided to ensure you feel confident in supporting the individuals. We also include an agreed shadow period which allows direct visual learning alongside established staff and time to read support plans forall the individuals. It also gives each individual time to get to know you and for you to build a relationship with them.Benefits:
  • Bank Holiday will be paid at time and a half rate of £15.00 per hour
  • Christmas & New Year will be paid at double time rate of £20.00 per hour
