Job Description

I am currently seeking a Health and Safety & Environmental Manager on behalf of my client; a market leading engineering company in supply installation & maintenance of power generation & distribution systems.Due to company expansion my client is looking for a HSE Manager to join their close-knit dynamic team. You will be very comfortable and hands on in the workshop environment, taking ownership of Health, Safety and Environmental matters, and being responsiblefor implementing and managing the companys HSE systems in conjunction with the wider team. In addition, you will be challenged with engaging all staff, promoting a Safety-First culture, and raising awareness of the latest HSE protocols and standards.Key Responsibilities:

  • Audit and Plan onsite Health, Safety and Environmental systems to ensure compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and legislation, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Perform audits to ensure all company documentation is up to date and appropriately distributed within the organisation.
  • Ensure regular risk assessments are carried out and implement remedial actions where required.
  • Conduct investigations when compliance issues arise and provide and implement robust solutions.
  • Evaluate the efficiency of controls and strive for continuous improvement.
  • Provide training and toolbox talks, information and guidance to new starters and existing employees in relation to the companys health & safety and other management systems.
  • Provide support for regulatory compliance matters as required, including maintenance of product technical files.
  • Review procedures and provide reports periodically to identify hidden risks or non-conformity issues.
  • Provide a regular presence around site to proactively advise and guide management and employees, identify risks and hazards and win hearts and minds to engender a Safety-First culture.
  • Provide timely and accurate reports to leadership in accordance with company and legal requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider HSE Team to share knowledge, provide and receive support and cover other sites.
Person Requirements:
  • Hold a relevant HSE qualification; NEBOSH preferred, IOSH Managing Safely as a minimum
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills dealing with people at all levels.
  • Confident individual who works well within a team.
  • Completer/finisher who is attentive to detail.
  • Proficient in the use of IT, in particular Microsoft applications e.g., Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Sound knowledge of environmental management requirements.
  • Experience in the development, application & maintenance of ISO standards 14001 & 45001.
  • Pragmatic, problem-solver / adaptable, resilient and humble.
  • Well-practiced planning, organisation and scheduling skills.
