Job Description

Senior MetallurgistFaslane, HelensburghAbout the roleAt HMNB Clyde, we manage a number of activities on behalf of the MOD and currently were looking for a Senior Metallurgist to manage and provide Metallurgical, Destructive and Non Destructive Examination services to HM Naval vessels and customers, ensuringwork tasks (plans/schedules/KPIs etc) are delivered safely, on time and to specificationYour key responsibilities will include:

  • Manage and conduct Metallurgical, Destructive and Non Destructive Examinations, accept/reject results and produce reports in accordance with applicable procedures. Includes the production of Production Technical Instructions and Procedures.
  • Assist the Engineering Inspection Manager in maximising the utilisation and the efficiency of all the Engineering Inspection resource.
  • Ensure that all tasks are carried out in accordance with the Companys cost, time and quality requirements.
  • Implementation of the Company Safety, Quality and Environmental policies in the Metallurgy area of the business ensuring that assessments of risk are carried out which lead to safe working attitudes and practices.
  • Support the Engineering Inspection Manager to deliver the main objective and purpose, deputising when required.
  • Ensure that Metallurgical, Destructive and Non Destructive Examinations activities are conducted in accordance with the Clyde Safety Management Arrangements
  • As a Radiation Protection Supervisor, ensure the requirements of IRR99 are met.
