Job Description

MetallurgistFaslane, HelensburghAbout the roleAt HMNB Clyde, we manage a number of activities on behalf of the MOD and currently were looking for a Metallurgist to provide Metallurgical, Destructive and Non Destructive Examination services to HM Naval vessels and customers, ensuring work tasks (plans/schedules/KPIsetc) are delivered safely, on time and to specification.Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting Metallurgical, Destructive and Non Destructive Examinations, accepting/rejecting results and producing reports in accordance with applicable procedures. Including the production of Production Technical Instructions and Procedures.
  • Assisting the Engineering Inspection Manager in maximising the utilisation and the efficiency of all the Metallurgy resource. Ensuring that all tasks are carried out in accordance with the Companys cost, time and quality requirements.
  • The implementation of the Company Safety, Quality and Environmental policies in the Metallurgy area of the business ensuring that assessments of risk are carried out which lead to safe working attitudes and practices.
  • As a Radiation Protection Supervisor, ensuring the necessary legislative requirements and standards are met.
What do I need to do the roleWe are looking for someone a Metallurgy Degree or EquivalentWe would also like you to have:
  • NDE & DE techniques experience
  • Nuclear/Marine Engineering
What else do I need to know
  • You should hold or have the ability to obtain full SC clearance
  • This role is based at HM Naval Base Clyde, located 6 miles north of Helensburgh in the West of Scotland. We are well placed for commuter links to Glasgow and the wider region, with easy access for car and public transport.
