Job Description

Commercial OfficerFaslane, HelensburghClydeSF34345Salary: £ 35,000.00 - £ 42,000.00About the roleBabcock is looking to recruit a Commercial Officer to join us at HMNB Clyde. We are a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy.As a Commercial Officer you will be responsible for contract management activities to ensure the financial and commercial interests of the Company are optimised. You will support the achievement of financial targets and ensure that contractual obligations and associated risks are adequately dealt with.Specific responsibilities will include the preparation of commercial elements for tenders, contracts and contract amendments; which may include reviewing and drafting terms and conditions. Providing support and guidance to the business regarding pricing, terms and conditions and commercial issues as well as regulatory requirements.You will provide a key pro-active service to support the Assistant Commercial Manager and the project teams.You will support commercial discussions and negotiations with customers; prepare and review responses to contract amendments and arrange for their approval. Prepare and review proposed contractual agreements such as NDAs and provide support to the Supply Chain function including identifying appropriate flow down of terms and conditions.This is a great opportunity to become part of a growing team, in a role, which can be challenging but also varied and fulfilling.What do I need to do the roleYou will be someone who can identify commercial risks, propose steps to mitigate and communicate effectively. As this is a complex working environment, you will be a self-starter with the confidence to work autonomously and use your initiative to make decisions within delegated authority. You will possess excellent interpersonal skills and a track record of building strong working relationships, with excellent presentation, networking and negotiation skills.You will ideally have experience in a regulated environment within a defence, power and process, oil and gas, utilities, nuclear, construction, transmission or the distribution sector.Experience of change management, subcontract management and management of contracts from contract award to contract closeout is desirable. Key areas of competency we require will include:*Demonstrable contract management experience *Commercially astute with an understanding of the procurement process*Strong team player *Attention to detail *Professional, positive and supportive approach to both suppliers and customers.*Ability to prioritise workload and identify concerns about workflow to Line Manager if any concerns are arising.*An innovative and flexible approach to interpreting scenarios.*Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent qualifications or experience in a subject related to business (including finance) or law.*IACCM or MCIPS qualifications are highly desirable.*Working knowledge of MoD contract terms is highly desirable.What else do I need to knowThis role is based at HM Naval Base Clyde, located 6 miles north of Helensburgh in the West of Scotland. We are well placed for commuter links to Glasgow and the wider region, with easy access for car and public transport.We are happy to talk about flexible working.
