Job Description

Job Title: General Manager (Child health & Womens Services (CHaWS) - Paediatrics Speciality)Sector: HealthcareLocation: Harlow, Essex and cross site.Band: 8bJob Type: TemporaryDuration: 3-6 months (potential extension)Pay rates:£27.00 - £31.50 paye per hour£30.00 - £35.50 paye inclusive of holiday pay per hour£34.00 - £40.00 umbrella per hourAll rates are dependent of skill and experience All rates depending on skills, experience, and qualificationsMain Duties & ResponsibilitiesLeadership

  • To provide professional general management support to the division working in partnership with the Clinical Director and Matron to deliver a high quality and responsive service.
  • To ensure the division is managed effectively working through the Clinical Director and clinical leads on a day to day basis.
  • To ensure effective channels of communication exist and are maintained within and across the division and that there are effective working relationships and links with relevant colleagues in other divisions or organisations.
  • Act as the key link between the clinical teams and all the division management teams.
  • To ensure the division demonstrates an open-door policy and that open and inclusive working relationships are developed with front line staff being fully involved in division decision making.
  • To work with other specialties and departments across the Trust, to establish excellent relationships, strong interface pathways and clear mechanisms for the escalation of problems and performance tracking.
  • To work with the Clinical Director and Clinical Leads lead to ensure the implementation of Trust policies across the Directorate and to ensure that staff are aware of their responsibilities and have appropriate training. This includes health and safety,risk management and assurance framework compliance. - Participate in the Senior Manager Silver On-call rota
Strategic Direction
  • To support the development of, and promote, the Trusts missions, values, aims and objectives.
  • To lead on the production and monitoring of divisional operational plans and support the development of care group strategic and operational plans, as part of the annual planning cycle and on an ad-hoc basis as required.
  • Produce accurate, high quality business cases in conjunction with the information team.
  • To play a major role in the improvement of the operational service delivery in line with the strategic direction of the Trust, leading and working with clinical teams to embed project work and deliver required efficiency and quality improvements.
Experience
  • Significant management experience in the acute sector
  • Proven track record of meeting internally and externally generated targets.
  • Experience, understanding and implementation of the modernisation agenda and the opportunities for redesigning services.
  • Experience, knowledge and understanding of current issues/themes affecting the NHS locally and nationally
  • Experience in the delivery of tangible quality and financial benefits using structured tools and techniques of service improvement, such as Lean and Six Sigma.
  • Proven success at managing complex programmes of organisational change while maintaining service quality.
  • Experience of staff management, including the setting of objectives, team and individual appraisal, recruitment and disciplinary issues.
  • Budget management experience, including reducing costs/ efficiency gains, monitoring and determining corrective action.
  • Experience of managing clinical pathways and implementing pathway changes in order to meet national access standards
Skills and Aptitudes
  • Experience in report writing and delivering presentations, to include development of business cases and formal presentations
  • Experience of developing and implementing strategic plans at service level that enables the attainment of Division objectives.
  • Proficiency in the use of ICT applications to support efficient work activity, including the analysis, interpretation and presentation of complex data
  • Detailed understanding of all access targets and their application in managing patient pathways
  • Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality
  • Understanding of equality and diversity issues and how this affects patients, visitors and staff
  • Understanding of what the NHS Constitution means to you, and your responsibilities to the public, patients and colleagues.
  • Experience of working across networks, with wide ranging stakeholders.
  • Experience of best practice process improvement techniques across a range of sectors.
