Job Description

Title: Fibre Cable Assessor and TrainerLocation: Cambridge based with nationwide travel on occasionSalary: £35,000-£40,000 including company car and benefitsThis role supports the delivery of fibre cabling and splicing training and accreditations to upskill our field-based operatives to the latest industry standards. You will be based at the Training Centre in Cambridge and will hold responsibility for completingcapability assessments and field-based coaching nationwide, but predominantly in the South East. Through successful delivery, you will support rapid mobilisation of fully accredited gangs onto contracted works on behalf of clients, including Openreach, Vodafoneand Virgin Media.Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Lead Assessor and Trainer in creating training materials to ensure training is engaging, high quality and meets the requirements of the company and relevant accrediting bodies
  • Plan and organise training and assessments to keep Operative qualifications current for the work they do
  • Conduct in-field capability assessments:
    • To identify their current capability level prior to training or accreditation
    • To deliver at-site accreditation assessments
    • To monitor ongoing capability, providing constructive feedback and coaching to those whose work is below standard
  • Collate and analyse learner feedback to identify opportunities to raise the impact of training and coaching, recommending and actioning improvements
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with internal & external stakeholders
  • Work with the HSEQ team to ensure statutory safety training is completed to the Company/ accrediting body standard
  • Conduct regular safety check of training centre equipment and provide feedback to the Lead Trainer & Assessor if replacement or additional training equipment is required
Key Skills and Experience
  • Experience of working on the BT network and knowledge of the BT accreditations and network regulations
  • Previous fibre cable training and/ or at-site coaching experience working for a communications infrastructure contractor
  • Proactive attitude: likes to be ahead of the game and thinking about continuous improvement
  • Competent in one-to-one coaching
  • Strong communication skills, able to adapt their communication style to the audience and engage effectively at all levels
Education and Qualifications
  • NRSWA
  • Current Openreach fibre cabling accreditations
  • Full drivers licence
Preferred
  • Recognised Assessor qualification (or working towards), e.g. TAQA
  • PIA fibre accreditations
