Job Description

Summary Divis & the Black Mountains is the largest greenspace in Belfast and the National Trust property in the region. Youll work closely with the volunteer, community & programming teams, and those in the Divis National Lottery Heritage Funded projectteam. Divis provides a wealth of public benefit to many and we collaborate with a wide range of local community organisations, who help us develop this special place to support people and nature. What its like to work here Resting in the heart of the BelfastHills, Divis provides a beautiful backdrop to the citys skyline. The varied trails offer an array of terrains for all abilities with views over Belfast to the Mournes, as far as Donegal and Scotland. This 2000-acre site acquired by the National Trust in 2004with Heritage Lottery Fund support contains internationally significant priority habitats and species, including at risk peatland habitat that we have a duty to restore and protect. Were currently in the development phase of a National Lottery Heritage Fundedproject. Our vision is to implement a conservation approach that enhances and restores this valuable natural asset, to enable and support meaningful connections with the mountain for local communities to transform lives for the better. To find out more, please visit:Divis and the Black Mountain | National Trust What youll be doing As Senior Visitor Experience Officer for Divis youll be responsible for the development and delivery of the operations plan for the site. Responsible for leading for a quality visitor experience that welcomes everyone, youll work extensivelywith visitors and partners across the city. Youll have a specific remit for overseeing the visitor operation, analysing and interpreting audience insight, championing audience voice, and will work to improve the visitor journey and programming in order tomeet the needs of our visitors and the project. Leading for quality interpretation, presentation, signage and communication with our visitors both onsite and digitally. Youll work collaboratively to achieve exceptional service standards across all aspects of the visitor journey. Youll have responsibilityfor strategically planning and budgeting for the visitor experience and leading a team of staff and volunteers to deliver for our visitors and the communities we engage. Contributing to the wider NLHF project development and delivery, a champion of meaningfuland inclusive visitor experiences, youll play an essential role in helping us grow support in volunteering, fundraising and corporate sponsorship.   • Relevant experience in a similar role in the environment, culture, heritage sector or a visitor attraction.
  • Demonstrable experience running visitor operations, engaging through education, facilitation or training.
  • Demonstrable practical and successful experience of developing innovative approaches to audience engagement.
  • Can analyse audience insights to improve the visitor offer and meaningful and inclusive experiences.
  • Knowledge of access requirements and how to support visitors.
  • Passionate about the work of the National Trust to deliver its charitable objectives in urban areas, to problem solve and think innovatively as we explore new ways of doing this.
  • Confidence managing health & safety, compliance and risk and has a track record identifying and managing risks to the business.
This post is required for busy periods including bank holidays, weekends and occasional evening work. The role holder may need to spend some time lone working without direct contact with their colleagues and direct supervision.
