Job Description

We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Forge Operative to join our client in Halesowen. As a Forge Operative, you will play a crucial role in operating a 1200 T open die hydraulic forging press and manipulators to produce high-quality forgings.Your commitment to health and safety, attention to detail, and dedication to continuous improvement will contribute to the success of our operations.Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate the open Die 1200 T press and manipulators to produce forgings.
  • Report to Forge Team Leaders and the Die Plant Manager.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to trainees and apprentices.
  • Adhere to and promote health and safety methods and procedures in the workplace.
  • Conduct inspections of components throughout the forging process to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Support the Die Plant Manager in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain a tidy and organized forging area.
  • Work efficiently to meet production targets and deadlines.
  • Safely operate a forklift truck and perform related tasks.
  • Operate cranes for material handling purposes.
  • Perform hardness testing on forgings.
  • Provide training and assistance to train other personnel.
  • Contribute to the cleaning, tidying, and improvement of the department.
  • Be willing to work overtime as required.
  • Assist with loading and unloading of lorries.
  • Sign off on route card operations when necessary, such as hardness testing.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience operating hydraulic forging presses and manipulators is essential.
  • Knowledge and understanding of health and safety procedures in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to conduct inspections and ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Strong commitment to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent organizational skills to maintain a tidy and efficient forging area.
  • Proficiency in forklift truck driving and crane operation.
  • Familiarity with hardness testing techniques.
  • Willingness to provide training and support to other personnel.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work efficiently to meet production targets.
  • Flexibility to work overtime as required.
  • Capability to assist with loading and unloading of lorries.
  • First Aid certification (preferred).
  • Experience in cab crane driving (preferred).
  • Willingness to assist the maintenance team when necessary.
This role is available on a permanent contract.Pay starts at £10.42 dependant on experience.The working week is Monday to Thursday on mornings.To apply, please send your CV to
