Youll be working for Saint-GobainInterior Solutions in Hadleigh, Suffolk.The RoleOur Chemical Process Engineers are one of our most important roles in the business. A great Chemical Process Engineer will help keep our business running smoothly and take a lead role in the development and continuous improvement of the manufacturing systemson the Hadleigh site, with particular focus on optimisation of product recipes, in the key areas of plant safety, availability, yield, product and process quality, line speed and waste, whilst ensuring the products are consistently compliant to the requiredstandards and certification.. To support the business you will;

  • Work in a safe manner and drive improvement in safety within the department. Prepare chemical assessments (for existing and new chemicals). Prepare and train others on SOPs, including for current / new equipment and tests.
  • Lead and deliver manufacturing trials and subsequent testing of product and raw materials, and provide feedback to the team and suppliers. Drive improvement in manufacturing trial and testing processes.
  • Support the manufacturing lines in solving technical problems, particularly linking chemistry and formulation to product performance.
  • Identify and prioritise improvement opportunities through statistical analysis of production line data.
  • Lead focused improvement activities to achieve optimum line performance regarding safety, quality, cost, OEE, density, output, waste.
  • Assist with new product development, including specification and procurement of new equipment.
  • Lead root cause analysis and analytical problem solving activities.
  • To ensure that all key performance indicators [KPIs] and/or objectives set with your Manager are performed effectively and within target and agreed parameters.
  • To encourage, promote, be involved and manage the risk assessment process to Saint-Gobain standards.
  • Undertake any other duties as may be required by your line manager or the management team, consistent with the scope of the job
  • To adhere to all policies and procedures and ensure that you respect these with regard to, though not limited to, health and safety, the elimination of waste and care for the environment, equality of opportunity and the prevention of fraud

As a methodical and approachable person, you will be able to work well on yourown and take full ownership and responsibility for the work you do.There is some specific [experience/skills/knowledge] we are looking for from suitable candidates;
  • Experience in product development, ideally in construction products or similar industry, with skills in physical and chemical testing as well as small-scale sample development.
  • Proven record of initiating, leading, driving and delivering continuous improvement changes across a number of projects
  • Experience in Focused Improvement and FMEA/problem solving workshops
  • Ability to produce and review detailed numerical and statistical analysis on line and overall plant performance.
  • Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills, practical ability and a can do, self-starting, flexible approach, ability to overcome obstacles and find solutions to achieve project goals.
  • Strong understanding of technical and industrial standards and procedures.
  • Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to always link work to regulatory compliance and the best interests of customers and the business.
  • Experience working in a fast paced continuous manufacturing environment.
  • Safety qualification such as IOSH Managing Safely / NEBOSH General certificate.
Desirable
  • Good understanding of machine systems and automation
  • Practical experience in lean manufacturing such as Six Sigma
