Academy LibrarianLocation:HackneySalary: £27,827 - £36,624 per annumStart Date: September 2023Contract Type: Permanent/Long TermWorking Hours: 08:30 am – 16:30 pmAre you passionate about the power of books and knowledge Do you thrive in an environment that fosters learning and growth If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you! We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Academy Librarian to join our vibrant coeducational secondary school and sixth form in Hackney.Responsibilities:

  • As the Academy Librarian, you will be the guardian of knowledge, responsible for curating a diverse collection of books and resources to inspire our students curiosity.
  • Manage and promote a wide range of resources in a variety of formats and where appropriate, the equipment to access them
  • Work with senior/middle leaders and external organisations where necessary to develop literacy strategies to support learning.
  • Foster a love for reading and learning by creating a welcoming and inclusive library atmosphere.
  • Collaborate with teachers to support the integration of library resources into the curriculum.
  • Organize engaging events and activities that promote literacy and a thirst for knowledge.
  • Empower students with research skills to navigate the digital and literary world.
  • Manage library operations efficiently, including cataloging, circulation, and acquisitions.
Academy LibrarianRequirements:
  • A degree in Library Science or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a library or educational setting.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Passion for working with young people and promoting literacy.
  • Technological proficiency for managing digital resources.
