Job Description

Summary An Apprenticeship with the National Trust Ranger team. Rangers are at the heart of our strategy to restore a healthy, beautiful, natural environment. Can lead to an assistant ranger or ranger role and potentially move to a L4 Countryside Ranger apprenticeship after additional experience gained in role. Situated in the South Pennines, on the edge of Padiham and near the town of Burnley, the stunning Elizabethan Hall is set within over 40 acres of deciduous woodland and boasts a variety of habitats.Managed in partnership with Lancashire County Council, and sharing the site with different partners including Burnley FC, this urban fringe property is well used by the local community, as well as being easily accessible to those coming from further afield. Whether visiting the hall, coming for a walk around the woods, or making use of the play trail, there is lots to do and see at Gawthorpe. Working alongside the Ranger and a team of skilled volunteers, this is an exciting opportunity to gain valuable skillsand knowledge, and begin a fulfilling career as a Ranger, conserving and improving the countryside. What youll be doing Youll be working with your Trust Line Manager/ Mentor on tasks specific to your apprenticeship and as part of the wider team and willbe working outdoors in all weathers. Youll attend, and prepare for, monthly review meetings with your Provider Mentor and be accountable for your own progression in relation to the Apprenticeship Standard. Youll be required to complete and upload relevantevidence to the appropriate e-portfolio system to document your progress as well as maintain timesheets for Off-the Job training. Youll be required to complete mandatory e-learning, courses and training provided as well as preparing for exams if applicable. Youll need to attend 2 block weeks of training at the college in Somerset, with all travel, food and accommodation costs covered. Please also read the full role profile attached to this advert. Who were looking for Were looking for a self-motivated doer who is able to encourage those around them; someone with a curiosity about countryside management and the confidence to connectwith visitors, partners and the local community about our sites, our work and our ambitions for land, the outdoors and nature.
