Solving our clients problems often requires us to produce novel high-performance solutions, comprising of cutting-edge software and hardware technologies.What you will be doing (Role Duties and Responsibilities)In this role you will:We design and deliver high-performance radio and data processing systems, generating the most interesting and complex radio design challenges. Whether its the most sensitive radio receivers, designing for very low SWaP environments or implementing innovativeDSP algorithms, we pride ourselves on our ability to deliver. Depending on your experience level, you might use your skills and experience to lead teams of engineers to design, implement, set to work and deliver radio application designs. Or, as an early-yearsprofessional, you might develop your DSP skills as part of a dynamic and skilled engineering team, working towards taking on ever-greater project responsibility.You will work on a wide variety of state-of-the-art radio application designs on our world-class SDR platforms, from concept and modelling in environments such as MATLAB before implementation in VHDL and C/C++.What we are looking for (Skills and Experience)We are looking for ambitious, high-calibre people with the following characteristics:Essential: Highly motivated with a strong academic background typically in Engineering, Physics or Mathematics. A Levels typically AA in Maths and Physics. PhD applicants also encouraged. Experience in radio communications and Digital Signal Processing techniques Fluent in MATLAB Working knowledge of one or more programming languages, for example C, C++, Python, Linux programming, VHDL, Verilog Proven problem-solving / fault-finding skills Excellent team working abilities Ability to learn quicklyDesirable: Experience of FPGA development (e.g. VHDL, Verilog, ModelSim, vendor toolchains) A keen interest in the space sector and awareness of latest industry developments Experience of developing for space applications Broad interest in wireless technology, embedded systems and awareness of latest industry developments Understanding of digital and/or analogue hardware design with some hands-on laboratory experience of debug/set-to-workFurther InformationOccasional travel may be required in this role to visit customer sites for demonstrations, installations, handovers or reviews.An SC level security clearance is required for this role, and candidates should already have, or be capable of obtaining UK SC clearance.Life at BAE Systems DigitalIntelligence We are embracing Hybrid Working.
