Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for a Head of Electrical Engineering to join a leader in the design and manufacture of customised Digital Radiography (DR) and Computed Tomography (CT) turnkey non-destructive test (NDT) solutions and equipment for blue chip organisations,Shawcor Inspection Services (SIS) a specialist division of Shawcor. Established in Great Yarmouth for over 40 years, we supply products and services to the aeronautical, space, oil & gas, material science, nuclear, global energy and military and defence industries.You will be helping the business by overseeing our design and production departments and will receive a competitive salary with paid overtime, a pension scheme, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, critical illness cover, private medical and dental cover,health and life insurance, cycle to work scheme, shopping discounts and global progression opportunities.As Head of Electrical Engineering at Shawcor your responsibilities will include:

  • Taking responsibility for the day-to-day control, co-ordination and running of electrical design and production within the company.
  • Managing the electrical team who produce concept design, detailed design, CAD draughting, cost specifications, parts lists and then manufacture the final product.
  • Working with the client and project management team to ensure that the design and production meets all required specifications and standards, within the specified budget and timeframe.
At Shawcor, we are looking for a Head of Electrical Engineering who has the following skills and experiences:
  • Experienced Electrical Design Engineer with experience of manufacturing and production.
  • Educated to degree level in Electrical Engineering.
  • Understanding of the requirements for inherently safe/fail safe design.
  • Capable of developing original concepts based on current state of the art technology.
  • Experienced user of AutoDesk Inventor & Vault or similar CAD package.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, with ability to professionally deal with all levels of colleagues and clients.
  • Commitment to mentoring and developing your team.
  • Ability to pass government screening and vetting standards.
