Job Description

Technical Engineer ( Network) Job: Technical Engineer ( Network)Starting: ASAPDuration: 3 Months Potentially longerWorkdays: Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pmLocation: ThurrockPay: £18.50 PAYE inclusive - £22.00 Umbrella depending hours/days workedJob SummaryAn experienced engineer who can demonstrate Technical Excellence in the provision of:-

  • Telephone advice and remote assistance as required to internal customers on incidents aligned to you by the Service Desk Technician(s)
  • Technically excellent in given technology field(s), being the lead specialist to aid the prompt resolution of any incident aligned to you by the Service Desk, which are identified to be your core skill set. This may involve incidents relating to client devices, core server or core network architecture.
  • Takes responsibility for the provision and security of 3rd line services to the Foundation Trust. These services include but are not limited to Networks (SAN, LAN, WAN, iSCSI, Telephony and IP Telephony), VmWare, applications and reporting systems.
  • The post holder will participate in the project delivery responsibilities for the technical aspects of IT&T Services working closely with Technical Manager and Project Managers.
  • The post holder will be responsible for assisting the Senior Technical Specialist Manager to achieve the KPI’s as defined for the department.
  • They will, as experts in their field, be expected to form part of the Trust’s out of hours on-call support team.
  • Knowledge/Education/Qualifications
  • A degree in IT or appropriate relevant experience e.g. minimum 4 years in a large (1000 plus users) IT support related environment
  • Considerable experience (4 years) in Network Administration on a medium sized network of servers, desktop systems and communications devices using current technologies
  • ITIL v2/v3 Foundation Certificate (Green Badge)
  • Experience with Cisco Routers, Switches, WLAN, IPT, Security and Management products
  • Cisco CCNA Certification Or Equivalent Experience
  • Understanding of the HSCN Network Previously known as N3
  • Microsoft accreditation (MCP/MCSA)
  • Skills and Experience
  • Knowledge of delivering services in an ITIL V2/V3 service environment
  • Proven ability in the configuration and use of Cisco Unified Communications Manager & Unity voice messaging.
  • Awareness of Cisco product sets and terminology in supporting LAN & WAN Termination.
  • Proven ability in the configuration and use of Symantec Backup Solutions
  • Familiarity with Virtualisation techniques, VMWare an advantage.
  • Accreditations, or proven capability, to support a Microsoft desktop environment at both Hardware and Network Operating System Level.
  • Proven ability to install, remove and update desktop software applications
