THE BUSINESSWestray Recruitment Group are seeking an experienced Ship Agent to join out client based in Grangemouth in a supervisory position. The company in question have been operating for over 150 years and offer a full range of services to all the maritime trades fromoffices located in all the major UK ports. If you have experience in a similar role please read on…Our client are looking for someone with industry experience to manage and control the business activities of the branch office, and of the company with direct responsibility for operational service standards whilst ensuring that all appropriate legislationsand regulations are observed.THE ROLE
  • Achievement of performance, business development, and financial objectives as agreed with the Company.
  • Manage and promote the services offered by the Company through the development of new business and take an active role in developing the Company’s relationships with its customers and key suppliers.
  • Take an active role in day-to-day operations, so maintaining your own expertise, market knowledge, and ability to support operations team members.
  • Manage staff and their personnel requirements in line with Company, and Group, procedures as laid down in the Company Staff Handbook, and Company Group Personnel manual.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation and regulations relevant to the services offered by the branch office, and by the Company.
  • Ensure compliance with the trading standards and conditions set by the Company, including agreed accounting and credit control processes.
  • Ensure that adequate control processes are in place, preventing loss to the company through fraud or negligence.
  • Establish and maintain an internal system of communication that promotes best practice, both operationally and commercially ensuring that members of the operations team play an effective part in the general management and administration of the department.
  • Conduct individual performance appraisals, including a review of the individual’s job description ensuring that the operations team maintains a high standard of professional and technical knowledge by identifying, and organising appropriate training.
THE PERSON
  • Experience within the industry as a Ship’s Agent
  • In depth understanding of operational trading and accounting issues
  • Staff Management Skills
  • IT Skills
  • Appraisal (PDR) skills
  • Sales Skills
