Job Description

Live In Caretakers Job nr Goole East Yorkshire - 2 bed separate accommodation - start asap - £27,500 GPAOur client is looking for an experienced Caretaker to take on a role which will be for a full-time looking after a large property near Goole which is both a family home and events venue.The Caretaker would be full-time, normally Monday to Friday with flexibility needed on weekends and looking after the wider property. You will be working as part of the wider estate team so you need to be a team player and looking to make a long-term commitment.Duties (Some of which may involve out of hours working):Security/Key holding

  • Key holding duties including daily unlocking and locking of buildings all year round, as well as callout duties.
  • Respond to situations relating to the security and safety of the Estate premises out of hours.
  • Assist in the protection of the property assets. Support the Estates brand values as expressed through the appearance of the manor house and Estate
Caretaking
  • Carry out caretaking duties, minor repairs, and maintenance to the Estate.
  • Undertake regular building inspections, including heating, lighting, and alarm systems to ensure they are in good working order; inform senior managers of any major repairs or maintenance work identified.
  • Grounds maintenance including general gardening, grass cutting including cleanliness of the estate grounds and buildings exteriors.
  • Work with the General Manager to anticipate, prevent, mitigate and manage hazards.
  • Source and book external contractors and supervise whilst on site.
  • Implement procedures and maintain accurate logs in the event of fire, flood, breaking and entering, accident or damage.
Events
  • Provide assistance in organising the manual set-up of events taking place across the Estate, as required.
  • Inform senior staff of any Health & Safety matters arising and maintain an accurate log.
  • Organise company vehicle maintenance checks and cleaning, maintain an accurate log.
  • Carry out fire tests, drills and evacuation exercises.
  • Assist with the moving of furniture and deliveries.
  • Any other reasonable duties taking into consideration ability, training, experience, and qualifications.
Family
  • Daily dog walking, feeding and dog sitting when required (3 friendly dogs).
  • Occasional driving duties / station pickups using company vehicle.
  • Log stocking/laying fires.
The Caretaker is a key member of the site/establishment staff and undertakes a variety of highly responsible tasks around the premises. The caretaker must seek to establish an excellent and professional working relationship with the group staff, selectedexternal suppliers and all stakeholders. Above all they must recognise that they are a service provider to support the Estate ethos and brand.Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
  • Training in Health & Safety, Fire Marshall duties, PAT testing and First Aid would be an advantage.
  • Ability to carry out minor skilled repairs and maintenance work e.g., woodwork, plumbing, painting and decorating.
  • Able to work under own initiative, under pressure within structured timescales.
  • Have a high quality, methodical approach to work.
  • Customer focused, generates new ideas and working practices to exceed expectations without being prompted.
  • Strong communicator, able to listen to and assess the Estates needs and summarise technical building issues in simple easily understandable terms.
  • Full driving licence required.
