Passionate about animal welfare, Wood Green, The Animals Charity is a leading organisation thats dedicated to improving the lives of pets. With high numbers of small pets, including rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, mice, hamsters and chickens, being cared forand rehomed each year, we pride ourselves on our high level of expertise.Wood Green are looking for an experienced manager to oversee this busy and growing department on a maternity cover basis. Working with and supported by the Head of Onsite Care, you will have the chance to make a real difference to directly changing the livesof pets.As a Section Manager, you will be responsible for the delivery of a high-quality care provision, operating a proactive, efficient and effective section to support small pets and domestic fowl. Ensuring that all guidelines are followed so each pet receivesthe care it needs, you will proactively seek to help as many pets as possible, whilst maintaining a balanced population to maintain high welfare standards and maximise rehoming opportunities.Managing 2 Team Leaders, with overall responsibility for 16FTE plus an expanding volunteer provision, you will ensure the continued development of team members to create a strong, engaged workforce.In addition to this, you will work closely with the Offsite Care Manager to ensure Foster Home Care and Owner Home Care provisions are being fully and effectively utilised; will manage relevant external relationships with other Charities and feed suppliers;attend operational meetings; be a key representative for the charity and team during filming of TV projects, plus other media, content or events; and deal sensitively with customer complaints.The right candidate will have a healthy attitude to taking measured risks to support driving the department forward at a time of growth. They will also have exceptional people skills to support and empower the teams throughout any changes and developmentopportunities.Alongside this, you will need:- Significant experience of working in a Charity management role, ideally with pets- Thorough knowledge of different small pet species care requirements- Demonstrable effective people management skills, including the ability to manage conflict, motivating, empowering and developing people- Significant decision-making capabilities in a sometimes emotionally challenging environment- Highly developed skills with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook or similar packagesThis is a full-time role, working 37.5 hours per week on a flexible contract. Flexible requests may be considered for the right applicant.Salary c£27000Maternity contract until January 2023
