To achieve this, we not only provide care for pets in need, but also help people be the best pet owners they can be.The Care team are looking to recruit an experienced Dog Care Specialist to support and implement a high-quality provision for dogs in our care.Working with carers, existing specialists and the management team the successful candidate will be able to make a real difference to support the successful matching and placement of dogs, mentoring and developing other staff and supporting a high-qualitycare provision by acting as a subject matter expert.As a Dog Care Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring dogs are cared to a high-quality level as well as recognising and delivering training and behavioural interventions to enrich the lives of dogs on site and increase chance of success in a newhome.This role requires an individual to be approachable and have a desire and ability to be able to motivate, inspire, and develop others, showing strong communication skills with a positive outlook. The Dog Care Specialist will be required to have and maintaina high level of species-specific knowledge and use this to coach and support Dog Carers, as well as to support the management team. They will also act as a role model, imparting the values and ethos of the charity to all team members.In addition to working within the care team the Dog Care Specialist will be required to work closely with veterinary services, the POSS team and members of the public both relinquishing and rehoming dogs.The successful applicant will have significant experience working in a Dog Care environment and of dog training, behaviour and handling.The working pattern for this role would include every other weekend.The starting salary for this position would be £20,500 - £22,778 per annum depending on experience.We may close this role earlier than advertised if we receive a large number of suitable applications.
