Job Description

Summary Diabetes Scotland have secured funding to develop and deliver a peer support project led by young people targeted specifically at 11-25-year-olds living with type 1 diabetes across Scotland. This project aims to improve self-management by helping young peopleincrease their emotional health and wellbeing, overcome isolation and increase their confidence in self-management.We have a brilliant and inclusive working environment here at Diabetes UK and are proud of our Connected Working framework which allows great flexibility in the way that we work. *Some benefits arent available until youve passed your probation period and are dependent on the length of contract. Main Responsibilities Project Delivery/Management
  • To lead development, delivery and project management, following all relevant safeguarding, GDPR and Diabetes UK policies and procedures
  • To embed the principles of co-design and co-production and ensure the project is being responsive to the needs of young people living with type 1
  • To be responsible for the overall project budget
  • To develop and deliver a robust evaluation and monitoring plan and meet all reporting requirements
  • To be an ambassador for the project and for young people living with type 1
  • To recruit and train young volunteers and constantly increase the confidence and capability of young people actively involved in the project
  • To implement a communications and marketing strategy for the project across a range of platforms
  • To proactively build, and manage, key stakeholder/partnership relationships
  • To share best practice and provide regular networking and knowledge transfer opportunities
  • To support the development of an on-going legacy for the project beyond the lifespan of the current funding
General Responsibilities
  • To be a point of first contact within Diabetes Scotland for all volunteers aged between 11-25
  • To advise Diabetes Scotland on best practice relating to young people as required
  • To support Diabetes Scotland events and with general office duties as required
  • To contribute to Diabetes Scotlands strategic planning and delivery and support the wider Diabetes Scotland team as required
Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will have project management experience and have worked collaboratively with young people and young adults to design approaches that will meet their needs. Educated to degree level, or equivalent standard, you will have experience ofworking with young people and young adults across a variety of settings. You will also have experience of project planning, delivery, training and evaluation with excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as being proficient with digital andsocial media.
