Job Description

Are you a SOC Engineer looking to work within a Great Place to work Certified organisationSopra Sterias Aerospace, Defence and Security sector are currently in the market for a SOC Engineer with expert level knowledge working with SPLUNK. The ideal candidate will have previously worked within a similar environment working on the configuration andtuning and administration of SPLUNK SIEM. This is a highly technical position and would suit a passionate technologist always striving to learn and develop.You will be joining a busy team going through a large transformation with so much scope to grow with the team and a support structure in place so that everything is there for you to succeed.We can offer great career progression opportunities, benefits which you can flex to meet your needs and training and development opportunities.This role can be based local one of our offices based in Glasgow and Gosport with the requirement to be in the office one day a week.What youll be doing:

  • Responsible for availability, SPLUNK SIEM configuration, tuning.
  • Creation of bespoke reports for both internal and external review.
  • SIEM capacity management.
  • Maintenance of SOC Service infrastructure.
  • Work at a detailed technical level with a number of Line of Service teams (i.e. Unix, Wintel, networks and desktop) when resolving issues.
What you’ll bring:
  • SPLUNK SIEM – high level of skill.
  • E2E administration of the SPLUNK SIEM tool.
  • TCP/IP and networking environments.
  • Firewall architecture and hardening techniques.
  • Malware types.
  • Vulnerabilities and associated threats and exploits.
  • Syslog and Windows log formats.
It would be great if you had:
  • DS and/or IPS (SNORT based systems).
  • AV enterprise product suites.
  • VMware, Oracle Enterprise Linux, Containerisation models (not essential).
  • Active Directory and LDAP based user provisioning systems.
  • Virtualisation solutions.
  • Email gateways and lockdowns.
