Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Glasgow, is currently looking to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor for an initial 6 month contract with possible long term extension on a salary of £40,797 to £47,477/annum. This role will be hybridworking with a minimum of two days per week in the office.Responsibilities:- Taking responsibility for commercial aspects of projects from inception to completion.- Liaising with multi disciplinary design teams in delivery of major capital projects in accordance with RIBA plan of work, including staff and external consultants.- Support and advise junior members of staff on matters of quantity surveying and process. - Administer various forms of construction contract.- Producing estimates, bills of quantity, cost reports, valuations and final accounts.Essential Skills:- Educated to a minimum HND level in Quantity Surveying.- Good computing skills. - Good verbal communication and presentation skills.- Knowledge of lead designer’s duties at all stages of the design and construction process- Knowledge of prices and cost planning information - Knowledge of legal and contractual issues in relation to construction.- Commitment to delivery of high-quality service. - You’re happy to say what needs to be said, and you’re tactful when you need to be.- You choose the best way of communicating (such as writing or face-to-face) and use the right words for your audience and situation.- Can speak confidently and hold people’s attention.- You keep yourself and your team focused on the most important things, but let other people express their views.- You produce clear, concise and easily understood written communications.- You make sensible decisions after getting all the information you need and thinking about alternative options.- You use your own knowledge and experience and assess any risks.- You know when to ask your manager for help, but you also suggest the action(s) you could take.- You’re focused on what you need to achieve, and not distracted by less important things.- Are able organise and plan events, activities and resources, to make sure that projects or goals are met within agreed timescales and budgets.- Can produce complete, detailed and realistic project plans.- You balance any conflicting priorities when you need to.- Can create a good team spirit and motivate other people. - You don’t give up easily when you’ve got a job to do, or a difficult problem to solve.- You keep problems in perspective.- Are able to deal with both the difficult and boring aspects of your job, and don’t put off doing things.- You try to improve your team’s performance, as well as meeting your own personal goals.- You try to get everyone to work together and help to create a sense of team spirit.Desirable Skills:- Membership of a relevant professional institute- Knowledge of current marketplace and construction contracts.- You give out work, and delegate, to other people, based on their strengths and how much time they have.- You make time to meet people and develop a shared understanding.- You build strong relationships with colleagues and customers, beyond just working together on shared tasks.If you would like to hear more about this opportunity please get in touch.
