As a Barclays Senior Developer, you will work with Financial Crime Technology team and support Compliance through improving interconnection of Compliance systems to improve disruption of financial crime. You will be facilitating data-led approach for FinancialCrime stakeholders and applications and will demonstrate high level delivery expertise, including working with technical architects, leads and project stakeholders and delivering project scope and change requests by working closely with a global team basedin India, the US, and the UK. What will you be doing• Working closely with stakeholders, Solution Designers/Architects and other component teams updating them on progress against milestones, risks, issues, and dependencies • Performing technical design and development of ETL/Hadoop and Analytics services/components • Contributing to end-to-end architecture and process flow and performing duties under minimal supervision • Recognizing business requirements and publishing reusable designs making use of result-oriented approach • Making recommendations for performance improvement and fine tuning ETL and Hadoop implementations • Conducting code reviews across projects and ensuring that code adhere to architectural and quality standards and policies • Comprehending the business requirements and designing software solutions; promoting Automation and reusable components • Analysing situations, evaluating alternatives, and implementing solutions within Barclays defined standards as applicable What were looking for:• Solid knowledge of distributed computing architecture, core Hadoop component (HDFS, Spark, Yarn, Map-Reduce, HIVE, Impala) and related technologies • Hands-on experience with ETL process/tools and batch data ingestion; expert level understanding of relational data structure and RDBMS • Experience with automation/scheduling of workflows/jobs and solid grasp of data storage formats (Parquet, Avro) • Understanding of Agile methodologies as well as SDLC life cycles and processes with solid grasp of Data warehousing and lakes Skills that will help you in the role:• Familiarity with cloud concepts, services, and cloud service providers like (AWS, Azure) and familiarity with Tableau/REST API/NoSQL • Exposure to ETL tools like Ab Initio, Informatica • Sound analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to deal with numerous tasks simultaneously and with frequently changing priorities • Previous experience of working within the Financial Services industry Where will you be workingOur new state-of-the-art Campus, right in the heart of Glasgow is a hub of creative collaboration.
