Our service will cover allsecondary schools in Glasgow City Council (30+).Reporting to our Practice Manager Counselling you will work as part of a wider team to deliver the provision of aschools-basedcounselling serviceand promoteand improve the mental health, emotional resilience and wellbeing of children and young peoplein Secondary school who are negatively affected or are at risk of being affected by poor mental health.You will make a difference by:-Taking responsibilityfor theassistanceindelivery of a high-qualitycounselling service,in accordance withservice requirements-Provideline managementand co-ordinate asmall team ofCounsellors applyingadvice and guidance and utilising Action for Childrens policies and procedures.-Attend meetings with external agencies,representingAction for Children,demonstratingprofessionalism and our core values, in terms of approach, advice and positioning.-Manage complex cases and assessments throughhigh levelof professionalism to children and families, usingappropriate interventionsthat are outcome focused and evidence based to deliver to a service specification, alsoutilisingrelevant legislation,professional regulations and Action for Children policies and procedures.-Lead and deliver a range ofco-ordinationactivities,1 day a weekincluding training,supervision,participation events,recruitment, supportgroups etcand partner meetings.You will need:-A recognised qualification inCounsellingand registration withBACP;BABCP or equivalent body.-A minimum of 2years experienceof counselling with young people.-Experience of and knowledge ofschools-basedcounselling delivery.-Proven experience ofestablishingeffective working relationships with relevant partners,agenciesor other bodies.-Todemonstrateexperience of leadinga small team to ensure high standard delivery alongside direct counselling work, and the best outcomes foryoung people.-Experience of working within a multi-agency social care, schools, earlyyearsor health environment and applying safeguarding procedures.-The ability to undertakecomplex assessments of a service user needsusing specific assessment tools.-Competent usage of Microsoft Outlook packagesi.e.,Word,Excel.The way we workWe work to make sure every child and young person has the love, support and opportunity they need to reach their potential.
