Job Description

Our esteemed client, a renowned player in the field of civil engineering contracting, is on the lookout for an accomplished Quantity Surveyor and/or a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their ranks. This pivotal role demands an individual with substantialexperience in the Civil Engineering sector, particularly within the water or marine domains. This exciting opportunity is based in Glasgow.Capitalising on a string of triumphant project victories and sustained expansion, our client is keen to expand their commercial team. Presently operating in Water, Marine, and Power sectors, their extensive capabilities allow them to provide a diverse rangeof services to clients, propelling them to the forefront of Scotlands burgeoning market.With an array of dynamic and challenging projects on the horizon, you won’t be short of career opportunities. This company is dedicated to nurturing talent, offering you the chance to carve a robust and rewarding career path.As the Quantity Surveyor and/or a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the outcome of various aspects of Scottish Water projects, operating under NEC forms of contract. Your responsibilities will encompass meticulous financialoversight, including but not limited to:

  • Conducting Monthly Cost Value Reconciliations.
  • Maximizing, certifying, and ensuring timely payment of valuations.
  • Managing contract variations within stipulated timeframes.
  • Forecasting costs and values across all trades.
  • Collaborating with the operational team to secure labour, materials, and subcontractors, ensuring timely and within-budget project completion.
  • Diligently monitoring on-site progress and taking the lead in issuing necessary notices in accordance with contract protocols and timelines.
  • Ensuring rigorous vetting and compliance of all quotations with specifications, thereby obtaining the most competitive bids.
  • Overseeing the preparation of Final Accounts.
  • Efficiently managing subcontractor accounts to enhance contract performance.
The successful candidate will possess a methodical mindset, exceptional interpersonal acumen, and the following qualifications:
  • Hold a degree in Quantity Surveying or an equivalent qualification.
  • Demonstrate a robust and verifiable background in Quantity Surveying within the realm of Civil Engineering Projects.
  • Experience in water or marine projects is desirable.
  • Essential expertise in NEC protocols, underpinned by a proven track record in managing complex contract forms.
