Our client is an energetic and growing international centre of excellence for engineering research and teaching. The School leads research in Autonomous Systems & Connectivity (including Aerospace); Biomedical Engineering; Electronics and Nanoscale Engineering;Infrastructure and Environment; and Systems, Power and Energy. They have in the region of 170 academics and 190 researchers supported by approximately 70 technicians and 40 professional services staff. Currently, they have ~500 research students working towardsdoctorates.They are seeking to appoint professors who will provide leadership in research and research-led education in Quantum Technologies.The School houses them, which is a 1200 m2 state-of-the-art clean room housing a full range of lithographic tools, etch capabilities and metrology for processing semiconductors, superconducting quantum circuits and integrated optics. The successful candidatewill be closely aligned to this facility and will develop strong research links across their Centre for Quantum Technologies, with other institutions and with industry. Extensive laboratory capabilities exist, including microwave and THz test capabilitieswithin the Electronics Design Centre (EDC). The unified School structure and strong research capabilities across other Schools facilitates multi-disciplinary research in a range of topics.They are particularly interested to hear from candidates with proven expertise in conducting research related to nano-fabrication related Quantum Technologies. They have ambitious plans to extend its leadership in the design and fabrication of integratedquantum devices and systems, through both the JWNC and an initiative to establish a National Institute for Quantum Integration. The post holder will be expected to take a strategic role in realising these ambitions and build a research group working on thescalable components and integration technologies required for future generations of quantum systems. They will take up a senior role in the School and be expected to develop a range of multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary collaborations, providing atthe same time mentoring and guidance to younger academics.
