Job Description

Contract Scotland are working with a highly-reputable civil engineering contractor who are leading in infrastructure services throughout the country operating in transport, waste and consulting. With the successful win of a new Framework for Transport Scotland,projects for our client are increasing dramatically therefore the need for an experience Planner has arisen. This Planner should come from a Site Engineering/Site Management background with good practical knowledge in the delivery of civil engineering projects, ideally within major roads and highways, however applicants from other civil sectors will also be welcome.This role offers the opportunity of hybrid working, split between working from home, on site and at the head office in Glasgow.As a Planner your responsibilities will include:

  • Assist in the management of change with regards to impact on programme and progress.
  • Working closely with bid teams, producing outline programmes for tenders.
  • Build NEC compliant programmes from first principles using relevant scope, specifications & drawings.
  • Identifying contract requirements and constraints.
  • Assist the planning team on the development of workable, project programmes
  • Liaise with other functional staff ensuring the programme incorporates all activities and detailed logic associated with those functions
  • Monitor progress, analyse trending schedules and cost information then produce date and report finding to management in a proactive, timely manner.
  • Assist and mentor junior staff with training.
You should have an analytical approach, great interpersonal skill and have the following skills:
  • Educated to a degree or HNC level in a relevant civil engineering discipline.
  • Have proven expertise within a main contracting business as Planner on high value projects
  • Contractually aware, ideally with NEC3 or NEC4 contracts
  • Passionate about promoting a safe working culture on your projects
  • Primavera P6 software experience is essential and further understanding of Microsoft Project & other packages is advantageous.
