Job Description

Operations Manager - Please note that the role is home based/remote with travel across Scotland and Northern IrelandHours of work: 37.5 hours per week - including some weekends and overnight stays.Salary: £34,000Holidays: 25 days per annum, plus bank holidays (with increases for long service)Pension: Pension scheme and will match employee contributions up to the statutory amount.   • Develop and implement a comprehensive, long-term service strategy for Scotland and Northern Ireland, aligning with the organisations mission and goals.
  • Collaborate with Heads of Service and external partners to establish a robust evidence base for service interventions.
Operationalization and Delivery:
    • Identify and operationalize key strategic priorities to ensure the delivery of high-quality help and prevent services across Scotland.
    • Oversee the efficient deployment of resources to support the companys mission and objectives.
Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure the quality and effectiveness of the organisations services across Scotland and Northern Ireland.
    • Monitor and evaluate the impact of services to continually enhance their effectiveness.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Work closely with key stakeholders, including government agencies, partner organizations, and service users, to develop new channels of support.
    • Foster and maintain positive relationships with external partners to advance the organisations mission.
Team Management:
    • Lead, manage, and inspire volunteers and location-based service staff to achieve their highest potential.
    • Provide guidance, training, and support to the team to create a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
Financial Management:
    • Manage the budget for services in Scotland and Northern Ireland, ensuring responsible allocation of resources and financial sustainability.
    • Seek out funding opportunities and grants to support service expansion and development.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
    • Implement performance measurement and evaluation systems to assess the impact and outcomes of services.
    • Utilize data and feedback to continuously improve service quality.
Community Engagement:
    • Promote awareness of the organisations services and engage with the local horticultural community to garner support and participation in programs.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Previous experience as Operations Manager
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in service development, management, or a related role.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Proven ability to design and implement successful service strategies.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of the nonprofit sector and an understanding of local and national social service systems.
  • Financial management experience, including budgeting and grant management.
  • A strategic thinker, proficient in data analysis and reporting.
  • Strong commitment to the organisations mission and values.
  • Willingness to travel within Scotland and Northern Ireland as needed.
