We also provides eProcurement, eInventory, eHealth and eFunding solutions for clients around the world.Role Info:Linux Systems Administrator - Enterprise SaaS PlatformRemote moving to Glasgow Part RemoteUp to £55,000Plus Company Benefits PackageThe Linux Systems Administrator Role:Reporting to the IT Director Systems Administrators in the business are involved in the running of the Linux infrastructure as well as the applications running on the Linux systems.Core duties of the Systems administrators include installing, supporting and maintaining Linux and UNIX servers and working with non-Windows devices such as Proxy Servers and SAN devices. An integral component of supporting and maintaining such systems is preparing for service outages and other complications and responding to them in a timely and cost-efficient manner.Linux Systems Administrator Responsibilities:+ Participate as a member of the technical team to implement the technology vision, strategies and priorities of the organization+ Responsible for managing major portions of the IT Service Center’s production, test and development infrastructure+ Responsible for management and configuration of security and storage devices (SAN / Proxy Servers / VPN etc.)+ Provide technical input for, and assist in the maintenance of, departmental documentation relating to system administration policies and procedures+ Work with software engineering and quality assurance teams to set up new environments and ensure optimal operation of existing environments+ Work with database systems to securely connect web applications to enterprise databases+ Work with users to resolve system issues+ Support the software deployment and release processes+ Promote and follow best practices and implement effective processes to ensure reliable, high-quality IT service delivery+ Perform impact / risk assessments for requested upgradesRequired Skills:+ Knowledge of Linux Operating system platform with an in-depth knowledge of Ubuntu / Oracle Linux & Solaris preferred.+ Knowledge and practical experience of Cloud based services configuration and support+ Proven experience with Linux systems and administration (certifications preferred)+ Knowledge of Linux development tools and web systems such as Apache Web Server & Tomcat+ Experience in configuring and administering 3rd party tools on Linux operating systems+ Demonstrable knowledge of basic security principles related to network operations and server security+ Experience supporting hosted database enabled web applications+ Must be able to effectively manage simultaneous tasks on several projects with independent deadlines and deliverables+ Experience with Linux scripting (Bash, Korn, batch scripting, Perl, Python etc.)+ Experience working in multiple environments (development, test, and production).+ Self-motivated problem solver and a team player+ Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively+ Excellent written and oral communication skills with attention to detail+ Must be self-directed and a team playerDesired Skills:+ Knowledge of SAN / Storage devices (EMC / Dell preferred) and Firewalls (Checkpoint preferred)+ Experience working in heterogeneous teams / environments including Linux, UNIX, Database and Windows servers+ Basic knowledge of networking and related facility dependencies+ Experience supporting hosted database enabled web applications+ Build tools e.g. Ant or Maven and CI tools e.g. Jenkins+ Load Balancing via F5 devicesEducation and Experience:+ Computer Science degree or equivalent experience+ 5+ years commercial Systems Administrator experienceBenefits:+ Competitive Salary+ Opportunity for career progression+ Contributory pension scheme+ Flexible working with home-based daysYour Background / Previous Roles May Include:Linux Administrator, Systems Administrator, UNIX Engineer, Linux Engineer, Linux Systems EngineerInterested Apply here for a fast-track path to the Hiring ManagerApplication notice… We take your privacy seriously.
