Job Description

Linux Systems Admin Glasgow (commutable distance)Systems Admin used to be about back-ups and maintenance, now its where infrastructure blends with DevOps and Cloud platforms. This expanding FinTech has a great blend of working with high profile complex financial systems as they lead the market in their sector, yet maintain informal environment driven by technology & solutionsinnovation.Within your role you will be responsible for coordinating across multiple stakeholders expanding your system admin exposure and taking on the responsibility for managing the platform and keeping systems available and efficient 24/7. In addition systems adminplay a critical part in building and enhancing services such as system monitoring capabilities. Focused on continuous innovation you will have freedom to invent and flexibility to evolve. As the clients moves their services into the Cloud the opportunity toprogress into AWS will offer career progression.In this role Systems Admin responsibilities will include:

  • Liaising international with a diverse customer/college base
  • Ownership for the Linux platforms
  • Prgression into a Cloud (AWS) environment
  • Enhancement of systems monitoring capabilities
  • Triage, analysis and escalation
  • Assessment of current and future technology
  • Contributing to future design and product functionality
  • Continuous Innovation
To be a successful Systems Admin you will need experience of:
  • Linux Administration including associated scripting
  • Ansible scripts
  • Exposure to Centos
  • In-depth and demonstrable network understanding
  • Ability to partner and lead effectively across geographical boundaries
Desirable skills and areas for cross-training include:
  • Exposure - Understanding of AWS Administration to include knowledge of EC2, RDS, VPC
  • Building monitoring tools using - Prometheus and Grafana
  • Cisco ASA firewalls
  • Familiarity with Low Latency LD4/LD5 Data Centres
  • Messaging systems (ideally NATS)
  • Comfortable with a databases (to include MySQL, MariaDB, Aurora
  • Understanding of O365 and Azure AD
