Salary : Grade 7/8/9: £37,474 - £42,155 / £46,047 - £53,353 / £54,949 - £61,823 per annumOur client is an energetic and growing international centre of excellence for engineering research and teaching. The School leads research in Autonomous Systems & Connectivity (including Aerospace); Biomedical Engineering; Electronics and Nanoscale Engineering;Infrastructure and Environment; and Systems, Power and Energy. They have in the region of 170 academics and 190 researchers supported by approximately 70 technicians and 40 professional services staff. Currently they have ~500 research students working towardsdoctorates.The School houses them which is a 1200 m2 state-of-the-art clean room with a full range of lithographic tools, etch capabilities and metrology for processing semiconductors, superconducting quantum circuits and integrated optics. It is anticipated that thesuccessful candidate will be closely aligned to this facility and will develop strong collaborative links across them, with other institutions and with industry. Extensive laboratory capabilities exist, including microwave and THz test capabilities withinthe Electronics Design Centre (EDC). The unified School structure and strong research capabilities across other Schools facilitates multi-disciplinary research in a range of topics.They are seeking to appoint ambitious academics to join them in the broad area of electronic, photonic and quantum devices. Example research areas include electronic and photonic devices for healthcare sensors and imaging, power generation and harvesting,and devices for quantum technologies. Expertise of the successful applicants is expected to focus on nano-engineering and manufacturing processes, exploiting and developing capabilities in them). They have ambitious plans to extend its leadership in the designand fabrication of integrated quantum devices and systems, through both the JWNC and an initiative to establish a National Institute for Quantum Integration.The post holders will join a vibrant environment with world leading groups in high power / high frequency electronic devices, advanced photonic devices, sensors, quantum technologies, and device modelling and simulation. They hosts fundamental research thatis developed with the ambition to lead to industrial and academic impact.
