Job Description

Senior Health & Safety Officer (Multi- Site)£41,000 annuallyGlasgow35 Hours per week, Mon-Fri, 09:45 - 16:45I am looking for an experienced HSE professional to work across several campuses at one of Glasgows largest and most dynamic educational organisations.The Senior HS Officer will lead the HS team to create the safest environment possible for its 25,000+ students and staff. This will be achieved through careful development and delivery of a strategic HS policy and professional safety training, all whileproviding leadership in all health aspects of the organisation.Key Responsibilities:

  • Creating and nurturing a health and safety culture around the organisation.
  • Ensuring that the organisations numerous courses (ranging from construction to hairdressing) are complaint with health and safety legislation.
  • Line managing the HS Officer and HS Administrator.
  • Responding to health and safety enquiries and incidents.
  • Conducting accident and incident investigation, and performing appropriate follow up action.
  • Preparing, co-ordinating, and delivering health and safety training for staff and students on key topics.
  • Overseeing risk assessments carried out by the HS Officer for higher risk activities, when further expertise is required.
  • Lead the health and safety inspections and audits across the campuses.
  • Maintaining all required health and safety data recording systems, monitoring and reporting trends, arriving at conclusions and using this data to strengthen current HS policy.
To succeed in this Senior Health and Safety Officer role you will require:
  • A proven track record of solving health and safety issues in large organisations.
  • 4+ years experience in a HSE setting, preferably in an educational or public sector background.
  • Detailed knowledge of health and safety legislation.
  • NEBOSH/CMIOSH/COSHH qualification.
  • Experience in providing health and safety training/coaching.
  • The ability to design and implement policy at a senior level.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
