Job Description

Market leading medical tech company enjoying phenomenal growth require a Technical Lead - Embedded Software. With operations across the UK and the US they develop innovative diagnostic solutions to real world challenges. The current requirement is for an Embedded Software specialist with senior or technical lead experience to provide guidance and leadership to a firmware development team working closely with H/W and lab scientists.Responsibilities will include:-

  • Providing both new functionality and product improvement through the delivery of software solutions.
  • Create innovative software design specs
  • Prototype testing
  • Contribute robust design solutions and code to identified risk areas
  • Oversee the technical solutions contributed by team members
  • Develop stable, well tested software components
  • Produce high quality documentation to support design history
  • This is a hands-on lead role with responsibilities for both design and development. You will lead an initially small software team of 3/4 software engineers under an agile software development framework.To succeed in this position you will require:
  • Expertise in embedded systems development using C (and Assembler as required)
  • An appropriate degree / academic background in a computer science or software engineering related discipline
  • Deep understanding of RTOS
  • A knowledge of flash operations and peripheral programming.
  • A familiarity with schematics produced by the electronics team.
  • Knowledge of embedded system hardware peripheral blocks low-level operation
  • Able to debug hardware issues together with the electronics team
  • Self-driven, takes ownership
  • The ability to solve problems under conditions of uncertainty
  • Capable of strategic thinking in times of pressure
  • Experience of working as part of an Agile team
  • Although not essential previous experience in the medical device sector would be a plus, as would knowledge of ARM processor architecture.
