Venesky-Browns client, a public sector organisation based in Glasgow, are currently looking to recruit 3x DevOps Engineers for initial 6 month contracts on a rate of c.£500-550/day (outside of IR35). Due to the current circumstances these roles will be remote based for the foreseeable future.Responsibilities:• Implement high-level technical requirements in a reliable, scalable, and performant way.• Provide coaching and mentoring to more junior colleague.• Ensure due technical consideration is given to make processes repeatable, scalable, and secure.• Have a deep technical knowledge and experience in DevOps environments, providing support to delivery teams and solving complex problems.• Attend all associated Agile ceremonies and make use of collaborative tooling (Slack, Skype, Google Docs, Confluence, Jira).• Adopt current, established ways of working and advise on improving them. The specialist will be pro-active in identifying areas to improve.• Willingness to carry out day to day operational work.• Have a no-blame culture and encourage people to learn from their mistakes.• Take responsibility for their work.• Share knowledge and experience with other team members.• Challenge the status quo.• Be comfortable standing up for their discipline.• Be able to work with clients with low technical expertise.• Willingness for after hours work and some weekend work when required (in shifts or for TOIL).Requirements:• 3+ years in a practical DevOps role with AWS• Can demonstrate practical experience with RHEL or Amazon Linux or ECS• 3+ years coding with Python or Ansible• Demonstrable experience of Puppet• Demonstrable experience of using VCS (Version Control System) in team environments (e.g. Git, GitHub, BitBucket)• Demonstrable experience delivering CI/CD pipelines, ideally with Jenkins• Able to demonstrate mentoring colleagues in automation, security, and reliability, within a DevOps context• Demonstrable experience of identifying manual processes suitable for automationDesirable Skills:• Hashicorp tooling (e.g. Terraform, Packer, Vault)• Infrastructure as Code experience (e.g. Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation)• Database experience (ideally in one of MariaDB, MySQL, Oracle, AWS Aurora, AWS RDS)• Containerisation experience (ideally in Docker, AWS ECS, AWS EKS, Docker Swarm, any Kubernetes distribution)• Can demonstrate a firm grasp of DevOps and Agile methodologies• Demonstrable experience of Nexus or Foreman• Able to demonstrate they have worked in regulated environments (e.g. finance, government)If you would like to hear more about this opportunity please get in touch.
