Job Description

My client is looking for a Graduate Development Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. The Graduate Development Engineer role will give the right candidate an amazing opportunity to develop a career in the engineering/manufacturing sector anddevelop a long term career within engineering.The successful Graduate Development Engineer will need to;

  • To evaluate customer and internal requirements and identify gaps to current products.
  • To define, prioritize and execute tasks required to meet core team and project objectives.
  • To develop test equipment and instrumentation.
  • To define performance criteria and execute test plans on injector test rigs, engines and/orvehicles to demonstrate product performance.
  • To organise the procurement and testing of sample hardware to meet project requirements.
  • To interpret test data using analytical tools and provide synthesis of results.
  • To prepare reports, presentations and technical documentation for internal and customer use.
  • To provide clear analysis and summaries for decision making.
  • To apply engineering standards, procedures and methodologies to execute project activities.
  • To develop strong technical relationships with product or manufacturing engineering teams, customers and key suppliers.
  • To interpret test data using analytical tools and provide synthesis of results.
  • To assess and improve designs using established DFMEA methods to develop a robust product.
  • To contribute to formal and informal design and development reviews at appropriate stages
  • of projects.
  • Support planning, including detailed timing plans, management reviews and customer meetings.
  • To escalate, assess risks and issues to core team members and management in a timely manner and develop plans to mitigate them.
Skills required will include;Mandatory
  • Understanding of detailed engineering drawings and geometric tolerancing.
  • IT knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point.
Desirable
  • Able to operate effectively in a multi-national multi-lingual project environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage several tasks at once.
  • Ability to apply DFMEA methodology.
  • Understanding of the capabilities of CAD and data manipulation packages (i.e. Solidworks and NI Labview / Diadem).
  • Ability to use data processing and test automation software, such as Matlab or Labview, for collecting and processing data.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE Mandatory
  • Degree (or equivalent) in mechanical engineering or related subject.
Desirable
  • Experience with high pressure hydraulic and electromechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with high performance materials engineering and manufacturing processes e.g. grinding, heat treatment, injection moulding.
  • Application of simulation methodology and fundamental physical principles to the design of hydraulic components (i.e. CFD, AMESim etc.).
  • Experience of analysis and interpretation of results.
  • Experience with mechanical and/or electromechanical components and products
