Job RequirementsSenior Project Manager (Major Projects)Are you looking for a challenging new Senior ProjectManager opportunity We are looking for great people who can help us redefine whats possible for our Capital Delivery team.As part of our Grow with Gatwick initiative youll be provided with the necessarydevelopment to ensure youre able to Grow with Gatwick.The Construction Department comprises several programme and project teams, along with technical support functions and is accountable for the delivery of the airport CIP and strategic growth over the next 5 years, encompassingprojects across the campus todeliver fit for purposecritical infrastructure.What is the roleThis Senior Project Manager for Major Projects will play a key role in Gatwicks future, leading the planning and execution of a large, strategically important project, or multiple projects within a defined sub-programme, within a live airport operationalenvironment. The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for the technical, commercial and financial management of the project(s) to deliver to the project and overall business objectives.What will you do

  • Lead and manage the project team in the design, procurement, construction, delivery, and handover of the project to achieve desired business outcomes.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of a culture of world class health, safety, and environmental standards across the project and its associated contractors to deliver the highest levels of health, safety and environmental performance achievable.
  • Lead the identification and mitigation of risks that may adversely impact project delivery or adversely affect airport operations through the project/programme lifecycle.
  • Deliver the assigned project(s) to defined cost, schedule, and quality requirements, leading the successful handover of assigned projects to the Operations and/or Commercial Departments including ensuring all requisite Airport Operational Readiness planningand activities are in place.
  • Lead the development of the project team; set standards, manage, motivate, coach and mentor staff within the team. Recognise talent and assist in the development of those with high potential.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and statutory obligations applicable to this role, including all standards and code compliance, and required planning permissions.
  • Manage and positively influence key stakeholders (both internal & external) associated with the individual project(s).
  • Lead the Lessons Identified process across all projects and embed a culture of continuous improvement.
Do you have what we are looking for
  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent in programme management, architecture, engineering, or construction related field.Qualificationspractitioner level in project management (e.g. APMP Project Management Qualification or PRINCE2 Practitioner).Experienceas a senior project manager/project manager on large, multi-year infrastructure projects with a value typically in excess of £50m including the management of significant external suppliers. Experience as the senior project manager responsible for delivery of a large, multi-year infrastructure project with a value typically in excess of £100m highly desirable.Experience of leading teams of 10 people highly desirable.Experience of managing multiple, interfacing, concurrent projects highly desirable.Experience in leading infrastructure projects in a live operational environment desirable.Strong leadership and influencing skills.Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate and present complex ideas in a simple way, including to senior stakeholders.Strong practical problem solving skills.Ability to manage complex, potentially conflicting stakeholder requirements.Sound commercial and financial awareness. Knowledge and understanding of NEC suite of contracts highly desirable.Knowledge and understanding of contract administration and negotiations.Knowledge and understanding of airport environment desirable.Personal resilience and the ability to manage ambiguity.
